''Buy less but better products that last longer and have a meaning. Live slow and kindly. These are all we need to do.''

Can you tell a little bit about yourself?

I am 31 years old, living in Izmir with my husband and our 8 dogs, making stoneware pottery all day.

How was Nu29 born?

I took ceramic lessons while I was working in the fashion industry as a design manager. Then the pandemic happened and I started to make my cups and plates at home in quarantine times. Never intended to make a living out of them at first, then people loved and started to pay for things that my two hands made! 1 year later, I quit my job and now I am a full-time potter.

What does sustainability mean to you and how are you living a more sustainable lifestyle?

I live a slow-paced life, which is a must when you are a ceramic maker, you need to be patient and tender. I shop from conscious sustainable brands and try my best by making responsible choices.

We grow our own vegetables near my studio, carefully trying to recycle our waste.

Any tips to living a more conscious and sustainable life?

Buy less but better products that last longer and have a meaning. Live slow and kindly. These are all we need to do.

People or places that have inspired you to love the planet?

Copenhagen, Hamburg and Basel are my 3 go-to cities, I love their vibes.

I guess, I got inspired the most from the abstract artists. Mark Rothko, Lucio Fontana, Johnny Abrahams and Jean Arp are early in my list.

What is your favorite plant based home-cooked meal?

For summer, diced asparagus and zucchini cooked in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Yumm!

What are you reading right now?

The Archaeology of Mind by Jaak Panksepp and Lucy Biven.

What is your motto?

Joy of simple living <3
