Can you tell a little bit about yourself?

I am Dilayla a 23 year old sustainability entrepreneur also I’d like call myself an ecopreneur. I define myself as passionate, bold and a little impatient.

How was IMperfectionists born?

The brand was founded back in 2020 in Copenhagen Denmark. I used to design since I was 7 and didn’t realise that it was a key of happiness for me. I had a life changing surgery when I was 16 and then realised that life is too short to not to do what you love and my journey started. During my own personal journey I realised that what makes us sometimes can be our scars rather mental or physical and that is beautiful. That’s where the company’s name comes from and my Tiger drawing which you can see on 99% of our designs is a representative of inner strength.

This story blended in perfectly my interest in innovative tech and textiles and turned into IMperfectionists.

What does sustainability mean to you and how are you living a more sustainable lifestyle?

Sustainability for me is very simple, make sure to be respectful to earth and appreciate what it gives us. At this point its crucial to decrease our waste as a person and I take Mahatma Gandhi’s quote ‘Be the change you want to see in the world’ as my motivation on this.

As a fashion designer and a style lover. Clothes takes a lot of my life so I am fully aware of the plastic issue within therefore I use long lasting clothes and don’t follow the trends. Prefer natural fibres that don’t shed micro plastics once washed.

I started consuming plant milk only (I am aware I am relatively late on this but better than never).

Any tips to living a more conscious and sustainable life?

The most important tip on living more sustainable is to keep learning because there is always a room for improvement when it comes to our lifestyle.

People or places that have inspired you to love the planet?

I believe that the greatest artist of whole time is God and I’ve always been amazed by the nature but if I need to pick a specific place or person it would be a sunset in Bodrum, Turkey and rather than a person I’d say my good old childhood doggie friend Uysal made me love nature more and more.

What is your favorite plant based home-cooked meal?

Quinoa avocado salad over the roof.

What are you reading right now?

I am reading the portrait of the Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.

What is your motto?

Never Give up and keep the faith up.
